Review of Lady Bird (2017) by Riley B.f H — 18 Dec 2017
Honest, earnest, and moving, this movie makes us realize we're all batting our own demons, and trying to cover our "blemishes" up, to either be someone new or fit in; nothing is ever as bad as it seems.
We are all reminded how crappy our younger years may have been, and how frustrating it is to find yourself. Most importantly, unlike most bildungsroman, it is more about the mother and daughter relationship, and how love isn't always vocal.
Lady Bird has heart, and it pours all over the screen. Saorise Ronan is phenomenal, the acting is fantastic, and Greta Gerwig makes a perfect directorial debut.
