Review of Lady Bird (2017) by Johann M — 28 Jan 2018
Clever coming of age movie--the modern "16 Candles" with a more honest "slice of life" delivery. Without knowing for sure, I predict this was semi-autobiographical for the writer director Greta Gerwig, the lead in "Frances Ha" which was forgettable.
I'm so glad she made this movie and got top performance from Saoirse and Laurie Metcalf (brilliant actress no matter what she does). Lots of laughs and some legitimate tears, when you don't expect.
My second favorite movie of 2017 so far (after "Brad's Status").
