Review of Lady and the Tramp (1955) by Curtis H — 24 Jul 2012
Depthless characters and a predictable narrative make Lady and the Tramp one of the softest, least inspiring pieces of animation Disney has ever produced. In the rather benign story of star crossed canines a pampered cocker spaniel falls for a street wise mutt.
It succeeds in technical proficiency but never reaches great heights or depths of emotion or purpose. Any movie for which the dramatic climax involves a rat in a baby's room lacks a certain dramatic weight.
