Review of Lacombe, Lucien (1974) by Michael L — 23 Oct 2007
A brilliant film by French director Louis Malle that tells of a young French boy who joins the Gestapo during Germany's occupation of France. The films greatest strength is that it doesn't judge it's characters, but leaves that to the viewer.
With such an approach Malle shows us that though people may do horrible things, they are not inherently evil, but simply misguided human beings caught up in a terrible situation.
