Review of Labyrinth (2012) by Kendall I — 01 Oct 2012
An old childhood favorite of mine,Labyrinth brings back many memories. The movie had it's ups and downs and favorite parts. Ups: The puppets and effects were awesome, but not really realistic. The imagination put into this film is amazing compared to Neverending Story and Return to Oz. Oz may still dominate all, though. Bowie's haunting voice accompanies us in music and creepy king throughout the movie. I've always been a Bowie fan. I saw a big hint of psychological film in this, and I loved it. The humor was as funny as ever was. Downs: It wasn't as good as I remembered it to be when I was younger. Jennifer Connelly's acting SUCKED the entire movie (unless she was TRYING to for the drama queen part, otherwise I just didn't like her character.).
At some parts,I just got lost, like the Chamber of whatchamacalit. Favorite parts: the part with the colorful,head-removers-it was just funny, crazy, and cool. The walk across the Stench-the potty humor here is funny as heck. Overall,it's an acid trip of fantasy fun through Henson puppetry and Bowie's music. Great movie!
