Review of Labyrinth (2012) by Bill M — 17 Mar 2013
Unique, endlessly fun and with a wonderfully playful sense of humor and craziness, Labyrinth is a masterpiece in so many ways, the look and realization of the film is incredible, this is one of the most visually amazing and inventive films ever made, the complicated sets, the brilliant puppets create an utterly surreal, scary, rich fevor dream look to the movie that could only come from the 80's, add to that David Bowie's unforgettable, flamboyant goblin king Jareth, and Bowie's ridiculous and glorious songs (DANCE THE MAGIC DANCE!) and a truly good-natured, warm and magical feel and you have pure, unfettered joy, a one of a kind classic of 80's fantasy, pop and imagination that makes any big special effects extravaganza these days look very poor in comparison.
