Review of Labyrinth (2012) by Ben G — 27 Aug 2016
I watched this movie right before I left for college, and as a consequence, I walked three miles to the nearest comic book store on FCBD every year since, just to get the latest Archaia/BOOM! Studios Labyrinth comic.
David Bowie gave the film a dazzling performance and an even more unforgettable sound track. He's the perfect villain and the perfect love interest all rolled up into one. My only qualm was that they never made out in the movie, which was fair I guess, given the age difference.
If you loved David Bowie, you'll love this film. Archaia and BOOM! did a good job with their Labyrinth short stories too, but under no circumstances should ANYONE read the Return to Labyrinth graphic novels.
Tokyopop and Jake T. Forbes defecated on the legacy of Henson and Labyrinth by writing those novels the way they did, so any true Labyrinth fan should read all the other associated Labyrinth media BESIDES those volumes.
