Review of Labyrinth (2011) by Joseph W — 27 Jun 2011
Well, this movie's certainly...interesting. the story's pretty bland, as is most of the acting, but the puppets are entertaining (not to mention incredibly bizarre) and David Bowie's eccentrically strange--as usual.
the movie has a lot in common with its 80s fantasy cousin, The Neverending Story, only the production value is much better and it's much more enjoyable overall. I was kinda bummed to learn despite his sole screenwriting credit, not much of Terry Jones' work made it into the final script.
his influence is definitely there, though, particularly in Sir Didymus. this isn't one of Henson's finer efforts by a long shot, but I suppose it's still mildly amusing.
