Review of Labyrinth (2003) by Mande H — 30 Mar 2013
"Labyrinth" is a beautiful 80's film from Jim Henson that's full of magic, amazing music by David Bowie and features an incredible story about growing up and the power of fantasy and imagination.
Beautifully done, "Labyrinth" features innovative sets and incredibly catchy tunes. Its protagonist (Jennifer Connelly as Sarah) is relatable and David Bowie gives a great performance as Jareth the Goblin King, including some fun musical numbers.
The movie features the classic Jim Henson puppets and is, in fact, a lot more believable and magical that many CGI-fest films we usually see today. We all need fantasy sometimes in our life, even as adults, and to quote one of the final lines from the film: "I don't know why, but every now and again in my life - for no reason at all - I need you.
All of you".
