Review of Labor Day (2013) by Jd D — 04 Feb 2014
I'm a sucker for schmaltz. No, not your garden variety Lifetime-level schmaltz. I just like a little schmaltz here and there. This movie serves up a tad more than I would've preferred, but I still enjoyed it.
Kate Winslet falls in love with her knight in shining handcuffs--a handy dandy Brawny paper towel guy come to life (Josh Brolin) who knows his way around a peach pie. There's also Tobey Maguire's narration in all it's Tobey Maguire-ness (not the strained version found in The Great Gatsby).
Parts of this movie might puzzle you, but you'll likely be moved. In a schmaltzy way.
