Review of Labor Day (2013) by Josh K — 28 Apr 2014
A mixed bag of a film considering all of the great talent involved particularly reliable performances by Brolin and Winslet, and surprise directorial effort from the normally exceptional Jason Reitman.
But seems like he picked the wrong assignment here with what amounts to a sappy wannabe Nicholas Sparks wannabe tear jerker bout a wrong side of the tracks felon who takes up with a broken family and an unconventional romance begins.
Unintentionally creepy yet sappy, had a hard time beliving a lot of the events would realistically take place and given the fragility of the Winslet character Im not sure how I should feel about the Bronlins characters intention no matter how good.
Hmmmm.
