Review of Labor Day (2013) by Jonathan B — 05 Jul 2014
Career low for Jason Reitman. The central romance, which most of the movie hinges on, is equal parts creepy and dumb, even though Kate Winslett and Josh Brolin turn in decent work, and the story never comes together as a result.
As many have stated, I have no idea why Reitman decided to pursue this project in the first place, because it's an odd fit. Hopefully Labor Day, and to a lesser extent Young Adult, are only a blip in his filmography and he returns to the excellence of his first three films quickly.
