Review of La Vie en Rose (2007) by Anthony E — 12 Aug 2010
A beautifully crafted film, which at its core has a great performance from Marion Cotillard. She mimed the music, which is a little disappointing. But at the same time, hearing her singing Edith Piaf's music could have been equally disappointing.
In my opinion, she deserved the Academy Award that she won. After Sandra Bullock winning at this years Oscars, its comforting to know that the Academy does recognize talent when they see it.
For me, its mainly Cotillards performance that led to my enjoyment of the movie. Whenever she's on screen you believe that she's Edith Piaf. From the age of 20 to the age of 44.
