Review of L.A. Story (1991) by Dave S — 28 Dec 2008
A certain amount of smarmy is kind of expected from Steve Martin, but some of the outlandish L.A. jokes here feel like cheap shots (although I've never been, myself, and perhaps the material was a bit fresher at the time).
Fortunately, there's more going on than California jokes, and I was really taken in by the exaggerated whimsy. Unimportant subjective side note - Zach Braff probably loves this movie, its tone and sense of humor has lots in common with both "Scrubs" and "Garden State".
