Review of La Ronde (1950) by Madeline M — 01 Sep 2009
I was amazed with how much La Ronde got away with, and I guess it's a great example of how different European and American cinema was. Although it's all in French, it feels very Viennese - plenty of whipped cream.
But there's quite a bit of lemon zest, too, and all in all it's quite sophisticated. (Dreamy) Anton Walbrook helps with the sophistication; no one fools him.
