Review of La Ronde (1950) by Matthew A — 04 Nov 2010
Anton Walbrook gives an excellent performance as the acerbic narrator guiding the viewer and the players on for a ride of love: replete with its successes and failures. German director Max Ophuls rose to international fame with this quietly, sophisticated picture.
The story eschews melodrama due to Walbrook's biting wit, and Ophuls' stylishly, clever direction.
