Review of La Orca (1976) by Matt M — 28 Dec 2013
Guy Ritchie's film tells an intricate story that involves jewel thieves, boxing promoters, violent bookmakers, amateur robbers and supposedly Jewish jewellers trying to track down a stolen diamond.
Yes, the story is intricate and the twists and turn can be quite testing. Despite this, Ritchie's adrenalitic and fast paced filmmaking style keeps the viewer watching closely all throughout. Snatch is also quite possibly the definitive Guy Ritchie movie, the type of violent, down and gritty British film dealing with often incompetent and irresponsible criminals.
This is certainly where he made is mark and certainly looked more at ease. A great cast completes the picture and among them a particularly colourful performance by Brad Pitt stands out.
