How this was even nominated for an Academy Award is beyond even my imagination. It was BORING beyond BORING. I love musicals but this was dragged out. The pairing of Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone was either poor casting or just poor scripting I don't know which.
There was Zero chemistry. It was like watching an off off off Broadway Play. I would love to say that this was a good stab at bringing back the Hollywood musicals, but in all honesty I can't. The great musical movie performers who are watching from above were probably either laughing at the attempt or crying because it was so wrong.
Ryan Gosling I think was the problem, he seemed totally not into the role. He was just walking through the script, no emotion at all. Not the worst movie I have seen but I am glad I didn't spend the movie price and watched it on cable.
