Review of La La Land (2016) by Jeje W — 28 Feb 2017
La La Land is a film with incredible direction, outstanding performances, great cinematography, amazing musical numbers, and fun characters. That's about it. This movie gets a lot right. But it really gets a lot wrong as well.
The pacing in this film is so uneven. I felt like I was in the theater for a whole day. The singing in this movie was very mediocre and really didn't blow me away like it did everyone else. The dancing in this movie is good but it could've been so much better.
This movie is very slow and confusing. The whole end sequence dragged on way too long and made no sense whatsoever. If you're looking for a good movie by the same director, check out Whiplash. It is a lot better than this.
La La Land gets a 6/10. It might get bumped up a little higher if I see it again.
