Review of La La Land (2016) by Miss B — 07 Mar 2017
This has easily become one of my favourite films (and musicals) of all time. I went into this screening not knowing what to expect as I had not seen any trailers for it. Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone were surprising candidates to play such potentially iconic parts, but I felt that Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers playfulness in both of their performances. In a world of remakes, re-hashing, half-hearted projects, and obvious money-grabs, La La Land was one of the most refreshing films I have seen in many years.
The Bottom Line:
La La Land is a perfect romance between modern film and the overwhelming charm only seen in classic films before my time.
