Review of La Haine (1995) by Leny E — 16 Apr 2008
Great film, yes it is French film, there is a english subtitled version. It sheds light on the part of Paris and France for that matter that many, especially Americans are unaware of. The movie takes place in setting not to distant from that of the streets of L.
A. The topics that are covered are not to different from those that stem from the inner cities and back alleys of America. The film explores the divide of not only economic class, race, religion but that of the parisian youth and the generations before outlook on life, morality and society as a whole.
Being filmed in Black & White adds more depth visually and emotionally. It is a much watch film.
