A gritty crime drama that peels back the glamorous layer of Hollywood and reveals the rot and corruption of the true Los Angeles. The story focuses on three cops, a strongarm that struggles with his temper, a brilliant upstart that struggles to measure up to his legendary father, and a celebrity who struggles with his conscience, and how they eventually team up to solve a murder that extends far beyond what it originally appears.
The continuously twisting and evolving story and the contrast and friction between the highly compelling (and flawlessly acted) central characters make this blockbuster one of the best modern film noirs ever made.
