L.A. Confidential, Great Movies.

"L.A. Confidential", is one of the best films in many years, no, of the last 2 decades. It is an essential and a standard piece of filmmaking that I think many filmmakers these days, doesn't accomplish or get at all. As I said, it's one of the best films of 1997, and also one of the best films of the 90's. What makes it so special, I'm gonna tell you right now!

From the acting to it's direction, you know that this film is a masterpiece at it's best. Some people call it a film-noir, so it is! It is like those Hollywood film-noir from the 40's and the 50's, everything is in fact, not fake or made up. Watching this film reminds of some great films like "Double Indemnity", and "Chinatown", which I think similar to this movie, and yet to have a different concept. Now, it belongs to the must see movies lists, and into the best crime mystery films list.

To begin, this story us about three cops, who are not very similar but they work on the same department, they're Jack, played by Kevin Spacey, Bud, played by Russell Crowe, and Ed, played by Guy Pearce. Each of these characters have something to tell us, Jack is a very pride and wise guy who works also to Sid, played by Danny De Vito, as a magazine publisher, now these two have to make a TV crime show that then becomes an article to Sid's magazine. Bud, is a self-centered man who falls in love with a woman named Lynn, played by Kim Basinger In her Academy Award winning role, and I see why. And Ed, is that kind of a smart and very talented rookie guy who becomes promoted 2 times, because he does his job straight. These characters, these people, will somehow collide and meet at the end, that will become like scattered pieces which are put together at the end, and be surprise, this film as a lot of things you may never expect to come. This film plays like an episodic TV show, that has different stories one after another, and then it goes to the end like knowing that it's all that, and still we're amazed.

So, this film is truly a great movie. What other film can you think that has the same story like this one, I think none, after 1997, I don't think there's ever been a film-noir released, even there is, I don't think they're as good as "LA Confidential". And to sum up, the performances are great, the direction is very tight and splendid, the story is very well told that made sense at the end, the script and it's dialogue is very rich and not that kind of a boring and lazy non-sense line, the action scenes are at least not continuous or violent, and the 50's style is brilliant as it is ever captured on the history of cinema. What can I ask for more? This film has everything "great" on it, and to end this, I'm gonna say it once again:

I like it, I like the performances, and I think it's one of the best films of the year! Big Huge Gigantic enthusiastical epic Thumbs way over to the very up!
