Review of L.A. Confidential (1997) by Ollie W — 23 Jul 2011
A stunning and harrowing journey into the brutal and unrelenting darkness of 1950's California police that boasts superb performances from Pearce, Basinger, Cromwell and Spacey, while Russell Crowe unbelievably holds his own as the violent and conflicted pawn in the police department's game of intrigue and political corruption.
Excellent direction and a breathtaking script give this stunning noire thriller a considerable edge, coupled with it's gritty violence and emotionally involving characters, L.A. Confidential is a cut above the rest and will leave you reeling and gasping and thoroughly satisfied.
