Review of L.A. Confidential (1997) by Dave S — 27 Aug 2011
Just okay, and at its roughest moments it borders on self parody. When was it decided that one of out cherished national myths would be this same outline of cloudy morality & criminal codes of honor? Because filmmakers love to make crime epics almost as much as critics love to love them, but it feels pretty played out to me.
However stylish, however conscious an homage, I feel like we've seen this movie before.
