Review of L.A. Confidential (1997) by Satya P — 11 Nov 2011
This is a great, great film. The script was sharp and detailed. The plot was intricate and engaging. The characters were stylish and wonderfully portrayed. Even the sets and costumes invoked the sense of an era long since passed.
Although I don't think there was anything new and innovative about it, this movie was just very well done. I don't think I've seen a better crime drama. Practically everyone involved was amazing.
Kim Basinger won an Oscar for her performance in this film, but in my opinion, many of the other actors gave equally good or even better performances, especially Kevin Spacey, Russell Crowe, and Guy Pearce.
This film is what moviegoers go to the theaters for: awesomely entertaining stories.
