Review of L.A. Confidential (1997) by Peter E — 26 Dec 2011
A really fun film that gets better in it's second half. The story of the LAPD department trying to bring down a world of drugs and pornography. It is fast pace and highly entertaining. I don't understand why Guy Pearce is not one of the biggest stars alive because he turns in flawless performance. Same goes for Russell Crowe but I was disappointing by Spacey. He is good but actually has a small part. Cromwell also turns in a great performance and the cast is rounded out with solid showings by Devito and Strathairn. The only one I was highly let down by was Basinger. Even though she won the Oscar it was a mediocre performance because she was never invested like the other actors, Moore should have won the Oscar that year for Boogie Nights. It's a must see!
