Review of L.A. Confidential (1997) by Nate G — 12 Apr 2012
I don't know how I ever missed this film. It was smart, suspenseful and was supported with strong roles from Russell Crowe and Kevin Spacey. At times, it does feel sort of like a glorified Chinatown, but it also holds a life of it's own.
It's noir feel is sort of played back and forth by Crowe and Pearce, who also had a strong performance. I also liked the duality of the two leads and the ways they connect and both become something they never expected.
Even with the pulp theme feeling a little bit forced this movie is well worth viewing.
