Review of L.A. Confidential (1997) by Tor M — 02 Feb 2013
There are few things greater than good guys versus bad guys types of movies. You know, cops, crooks, mixups, action and twists. This is absolutely one of the best of the genre. It has this long, smooth, necessary build up - there are many characters and names here. And boy, these actors really.
Paint pictures of real guys - this is phenomenal acting! Big names with great skills here. I don't know about Kim Basinger, though. She deliver well, but not oscar worthy - or is it? Maybe that one scene she completely rule the camera was enough? Anyhow, one of the hottest 44 year olds (at the time of shooting) around.
Thrilling and smart film with loads of snappy comments. It takes many turns and I like them all. It also have some of the better shoot out scenes I have ever seen. A super film that probably will continue to stand the test of time - it's already taking place in the late fiftees, right?
