Review of La Bête Humaine (1938) by Atlas O — 01 Sep 2008
My least favourite of the four Jean Gabin films I have seen, this had some stunning photography which I presume was fairly innovative at the time? There were too many loose ends for my liking - perhaps I need to read the series of Zola novels from which the story in this film is taken.
I also wasn't sure whether Simone Simon's character was an abused victim of those around her, or a manipulator of her fellow passengers in life?
