Review of La Bamba (1987) by Carolyn G — 15 May 2011
This is really Esai's movie, although Lou Diamond Phillips is excellent as well. More than a chronicling of Ritchie's short career, this is really the story of two brothers. The soundtrack is excellent and whatever historical discrepancies the film contains, it is still compelling and heartbreaking.
Almost 24 years after its release, it still holds up very well.
