Review of Kurt Cobain: About a Son (2007) by Tania H — 05 Jan 2008
A nice travelogue of Seattle, Olympia, and Aberdeen. It almost looks like my Lonely Planet! The pure absence of the titlar character in images definitely adds to the oddness of the film, luckily not to the point of annoyance.
What has happened to the sons growing up in the Pacific Northwest?! I hope they did a little more playing with the audio tracks; at times the audio seems a little rough. Nice shots of scenery and people of the area though, and that makes up for it.
The shots inside the wood mill are fascination, more or less reminded me of "Le Fils" by the Dardennes. The film does take away a lot of the mysterious aura surrounding Cobain.
