Review of Kurt & Courtney (1998) by Becs D — 12 Apr 2014
A documentary from investigative journalist Nick Broomfield looking into the life of Kurt Cobain and his widow Courtney Love. Following Cobain's life from his childhood, rise into fame and the facts and conspiracy theories surrounding his death.
It is a murky pool to go diving into and the film also documents the troubles and obstacles from Courtney Love they faced.
She seems to be the more fascinating subject. Clinically ambitious and conniving. Her very blatant crusade to whitewash her image following Cobain's death is an astonishing feat of PR, making Kurt appear to be mere collateral damage in her quest for stardom and wealth. Broomfield barely scratches the surface, but her spectre haunts this film.
