Review of Kung Pow: Enter the Fist (2002) by Jamie T — 30 Jan 2010
How can you review a movie like this? It's absurd in every way possible, and unless I were willing to make the case for its absurdity being some sort of post-modernistic minimalism (which I'm not, because fuck that), it's hard to defend it on any serious level.
Plot and character are negligible, and the humor is as cheap as it gets. But the whole thing is done with a shaggy sense of fun, and it's one of those films that's about to watch as it was to make.
And there are many great, silly one-liners; it's a perfect party movie. Objectively, it's a piece of shit, but subjectively, it's a ton of fun. So my rating serves as a compromise. And guess what, they're doing a sequel.
God help us.
