Review of Kung Fury (2015) by Larry Y — 27 May 2015
So yeah this movie is the defintion of cheese but done right because it is very self aware. This is a short picture, 30 minutes, filled with no real story just random cheesyness and it works and feels to short.
It's awesome espacially if you are from sweden because of all the cameos in it. I mean this film references old classic films, videogames and retro 80's music and does this very well. It references itself and makes fun of all stupid one liners and everything about 80s action really.
The story doesn't take time, trying to make us feel about the characters because, lets be honest, it's not trying to and is not meant to be doing that. Summing it up; if you want to see a selfaware homage to 80s action cinema all done with green screen with a story so random that the film itself drips awesome, see this film, it is truly an experience.
