Review of Kung Fu Panda 3 (2016) by Holden H — 26 Mar 2016
The third entry does try to connect directly back to the first 2 films, and deliver a resounding final note on the journey of the Dragon Warrior, but that epic-ness is cut short by an insistence on playing it safe.
In contrast, the stakes felt notably higher in the previous two movies thanks to some gravitas that is lacking in this new film and villains who came across as slightly more menacing. That said, there is still a lot to admire in the movie, the colourful art direction is still top notch, the humour hits most of the marks it is aiming for and its an entertaining conclusive final entry in the series.
...until they make another one anyway.
