Review of Kung Fu Panda 3 (2016) by Rizwan K — 01 Mar 2016
The most logical thing when it comes to a very successful animated franchise is to try cashing as much money as possible for as long as you can. This is the case with Kung Fu Panda 3, which offers more of the same while it tries to further build-up Po's universe. Funny, action-packed and almost unbearably candy-colored (or this could be considered an attempt to be "stylish" in an unique way), the third installment of DreamWorks Animation's franchise will be pleasing for the fans of Po and respectively equally boring for those who were not intrigued by the previous two movies.
As it could be expected the story lacks the depth of other animations and it fully relies on the loads of action and humor coming from Po's clumsiness. This time, however, everything is less dark than the second movie and Po meets his real father who brings him back to a secret panda village. There the "Dragon Warrior" should master the power of "chi" so that he can face the merciless and powerful super-villain Kai. Needless to say, all this of happens in a wild pace, among action-packed sequences and loads of the typical for the franchise humor and if you have expected something more meaningful you will be disappointed. Completely forgettable and far from being able to keep the attention of the more demanding viewers, Kung Fu Panda 3 works as a passable animated home cinema entertainment. Nothing more and nothing less.
