Review of Kung Fu Panda 3 (2016) by Thomas H — 19 Mar 2016
This animated feature is a welcome addition to the highly regarded Kung Fu Panda series, though maybe not as welcome as the previous two movies. It has the trademark beautiful animation, good comedic moments, can't-help-but-love-'em characters and a deep and meaningful story about family and learning to co-operate.
I do wish that the villain was a little bit more interesting though. when you have such memorable villains such as Tai-Lung and Shen from the previous films, you find that they are difficult to succeed. Also, I found that Po's father was a bit of a letdown in terms of character. Since the ending of the second film, I had wondered what he would bring to the table that's new. the answer was absolutely nothing. he's just an older Po. he wasn't bad by any means but he wasn't what I was expecting.
Overall, still a fantastic film. one of dreamworks' best in fact and I would definitely watch it again!
