Review of Kung Fu Panda (2008) by Compi24 — 18 Sep 2020
The animation wears its age in a couple of shots here and there, but on the whole, "Kung Fu Panda" is definitely a movie I regret missing back in 2008. The set pieces are extremely well-designed, with all of the frenetic, lyrical action taking place within a number of creative locations and under a few tricky circumstances.
The performances are about what you'd expect, with a good 90% of the entertainment coming from Jack Black's lead turn as Po. Dustin Hoffman, however, is given a lot to work with as well, with a few moments from his character even inspiring some real emotional depth and pathos.
The thematics are tried and true, but earnest enough, ultimately rounding off and putting a bow on a pleasant experience overall.
