Review of Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011) by Kyle O — 13 Jun 2012
With a stronger story, more excitement and some innovation thrown in (the use of traditional animation on flashback scenes), "Kung Fu Panda 2" is surprisingly better than its predecessor. Unfortunately, it isn't perfect because the screenplay is a bit weak.
Humor is inserted into more serious scenes, and while I'm well aware that this is a comedy-adventure, that doesn't mean you have to insert some form of comic relief into every single scene. That said, it's weird to see DreamWorks put this much effort into a sequel.
It's bigger and badder than the first one, yes, but the story is also better and there's some character development as well.
