Review of Kung Fu Hustle (2004) by Jeff B — 25 May 2011
A fairly funny movie with some terrific fight scenes and an interesting premise (at first), which devolves into a fairly typical kung fu film by the end. I liked the premise of having an area of town full of kung fu experts--and Stephen Chow's comedy character--fighting off a gang (as sort of a reverse "Yojimbo" story), but then he turned the film on its head halfway through and it became a story about a single character.
That, I didn't care as much about. Still, there was some cool stuff and some decent comedy bits, too.
