Review of Kung Fu Hustle (2004) by Jose M — 23 Apr 2012
I am surprised that this film came out in 2004. It looked as if it was released in the later parts of 2000. Kung Fu Hustle is a mixture of martial art films with crime and screwball comedy, the same kind you will in a Looney Tunes episode.
Kung Fu Hustle opens up with an Axe gang taking power from rival gangs. Two bumbling fools want to join, but must commit a crime to join. Meanwhile, the Axe Gang manages to run into trouble when locals at a rotting apartment complex start to resist them with three skilled warriors.
The film is then flooded with so many action scenes that I was left exhausted when it came to the big finale. Kung Fu Hustle is definitely worth the view for it is loaded with a lot of goofs, laughs, and great fight scenes.
The acting is very decent along with the dialogue and translation through subtitles. However, you will probably be paying attention to the action scenes, so much that you will not really take notice.
