Review of Kundun (1997) by Landon T — 21 Oct 2012
The young man Dalai Lama is raised to be the spiritual leader of a country. The country is later annexed by the Chinese government. It was a miracle that a boy that young was brought to be the leader. A boy from rural Tibet was helping during one of the most difficult times.
I thought the movie was very interesting and the acting was great. He was first discovered in 1937 as a reincarnation of a Buddha at the age of two. It was interesting how in the movie they showed him at various ages of his life.
They showed him at 2, 5, 12 and at his adult years. This movie ties into what we are learning in class because it explains the challenges faced by tibets betrayal in Buddhism.
