What are we meant to take away from this film? Kumiko is a total oddball, we're on her side even though we know it's the losing side, and even while we're beside her we still struggle to understand her.

A story without any real hope is hard to invest in, and I grew resentful toward the end when the film asked us to hang on while offering us nothing in return.
