Review of Kubo and the Two Strings (2016) by Douglas O — 10 Nov 2016
Kubo and the Two Strings is a surprisingly mature animated film filled with good voice performances and deep and affecting themes. Art Parkinson does a good job as Kubo. Charlize Theron, Matthew Mcconaughey, Rooney Mara, and others also deliver excellent voice performances.
The film's story is very interesting. From the opening scene to the final shot, you are invested the entire time. The story is also very unique and original. The film has some great themes about memories and life.
They are excellent for kids, and will hopefully affect adults the same way. The animation in this film is Laika's best. It is astonishingly beautiful. Overall, this is one of the best animated films of the year.
Hell, it's one of the best films of the year.
