Review of Kubo and the Two Strings (2016) by Late R — 15 Aug 2017
With charming characters, a wonderful score and gorgeously crafted stop-motion animation that delivers in all areas, particularly on the facial expressions which are just masterfully done, 'Kubo And The Two Strings' is an absolute treat to watch.
Travis Knight does a great job in the director's seat and gets the most out of a predictable story that, it has to be said, does drag a little here and there. Ultimately, however, you are left with the distinct impression of having watched something magical, thrilling and truly touching.
This is Laika's most daring film to date and one that should capture most people's imagination.
