Review of Kubo and the Two Strings (2016) by Ayrton C — 18 Dec 2017
Yet another "art film" that gathers praise on visuals alone. Basically a long puppet show with a lot of special effects razzle dazzle! Kubo was about as special and interesting as watching paint dry! Pretty paint... but still paint!
Horrible voice acting and a silly cliched plot that should only appeal to small children, definitely not professional critics who claim to be professionals! Everyone of them who gave this film a free pass just because it was "different" or were so easy persuaded by special effects should do the world a favor and return your press badges to your editor!
This isn't a masterpiece like some zealous fans and random critics would have you think! Fortunately for the rest of us the awards circuit has a more credibility and actually awarded the majority of its most prestigious awards to a more deserving film!
