Review of Krush Groove (1985) by Nik B — 14 Nov 2009
I laughed. I cried. I threw my hands in the air and I waved them like I just didn't care. It's commitment when you watch an entire movie just to catch thirty seconds of early Beastie Boys. What I didn't need to see: Rick Rubin in his pink Fruit of the Looms. I was surprised at how capable Sheila E. was at carrying the female lead, even if she really just looks like Prince put on (more) make-up. I can't believe that the longest scene was the awful full performance of Fat Boys' "All You Can Eat".
I guess it's an important historical account of the early rap scene. Not being a fan, I rate the flick on its merit as a film. I may have enjoyed more a straight documentary.
