Ah, '80's Sci-Fi/Fantasy. Cheesy music that somehow still gets stuck in your head. Bad acting and dialogue that somehow still makes you feel for the characters. Weak plots and sub-plots that the somehow still engage your interest.
Lysette Anthony's big hair... no there is still no excuse for that, haha. With as harsh a critic as I tend to be, still this movie is one of my favorites, a credit to the genre, and even something of an inspiration.
If you watch this with an open mind and no preconcieved notions, you should enjoy it for what it is and not be disappointed.
