Review of Kronk's New Groove (2005) by Matt B — 19 Jul 2007
Ok, I think they should rename the title. Maybe something like "Kronk's Not New, But Rehashed Groove". I'd hate to say it, but for the first story I was just kind of embarrassed. They were taking all the jokes in The Emperor's New Groove, which were incredibly hilarious, and using them in Kronk's New Groove, where it just felt lame to watch.
Fortunately after the first story, which had the one and only (thank god) character song, things picked up. I thought the allusions to other movies were a great idea. I mean, who didn't think the Thumbs Up-Lion King music scene wasn't priceless?? And I have to give credit for bringing back all the voice actors, which many sequels wouldn't even bother doing.
And don't gven get me started on the god awful TV show... Oh, how could I not mention the random dance scenes? Michael Jackson's Thriller in a cartoon? All in all, by the end of this movie, I had to give it a thumbs up myself.
